The best way to get a cab in Vegas is not to go out to the street and act like ou are in beautiful NYC and hail a cab. It will 95% not work, and I see the taxis get tickets all the time for doing it. Then you still have to go to a hotel to get one. Just go to a hotel and waiting a usually short line to be guaranteed a taxi.

I was looking thru the link above(http://taxi.state.nv.us/FaresFees.htm) and looking at the fares to go to the different casinos (aka houses). The cab fares are interesting. The Alexis Park is $12.72, but all the way out to Lake Las Vegas is $51.50.

It was different to look at the various cab prices. Take a look at them. It'll blow your mind at the different prices. There is the Strip, Downtown and the outter areas all with drastically different amounts. Pretty cool.
